In Ao, Daijiro draws inspiration from his Japanese heritage, particularly the tradition of Boro (ぼろ), a textile art form where fabrics are mended or patched together. Derived from the term "boroboro," meaning something tattered or repaired, Boro involves stitching or re-weaving textiles into layered materials used for practical, warm clothing. In this painting, Daijiro recreates this effect using only acrylic gouache, skillfully mimicking the layered, textured feel of Boro to form an almost original pattern.
